CLEVELAND, Ohio - After posting the game-winning hit in the Vikings' only game last week sophomore Matt Madrid was named Horizon League Athlete of the Week after. The honor is the first of Madrid's career. The league office made the announcement on Monday (April 9). Madrid keyed CSU's 14-11 home opener win over Kent State on April 3 with a 3-for-4 performance that included the go-ahead three-run double in the eighth inning and a solo home run in the third. The Youngstown, Ohio native also stole two bases and singled in the win, Cleveland State's first contest at Pipe Yard Stadium in Lorain, Ohio. "Matt has been playing very well lately and is well-deserving of this award," head coach Kevin Kocks said. "He has really been swing the bat well in the last few games." Madrid, who has raised his batting average 36 points with seven hits in his last five games, leads the Vikings with two home runs and is second on the team with 12 RBI.
Real Madrid Will Be First In The Queue If Manchester United Decide ...
President Ramon Calderon disclosed Real Madrid like Portugal winger Cristiano Ronaldo and if Manchester United decide to sell him, the Spanish giants will be “first in the queue." "We really like him (Cristiano Ronaldo) but he belongs to Manchester United and they have to decide to sell him first," Calderon told Spanish television station Antena 3. "If that is the case then we'll be first in the queue, although we won't be paying 80 million euros ($106.2 million) for him. "I don't think any player, even someone with Cristiano Ronaldo's quality, is worth that money, but we are definitely interested if Manchester United want to sell him." Calderon also said the club is targeting Brazilian midfielder Kaka from AC Milan, and Borussia Dortmund's German international defender Christoph Metzelder.
